Lawrence, Kansas 05/16/2025
Tonight we went to Lawrence Kansas to see quite the lineup, in the Show Me Your Goblin Tour, Nekrogoblikon, Revocation, Ov Sulfur, & Brat. In the historical venue, Granada Theater we shuffled through security and were led straight to the merch booths. Half of the line up just hanging out by their tables and I’m roped in by Ov Sulfur’s own drummer, Leviathvn Xul saying ”You definitely NEED that windbreaker, it would look so good! You know you deserve it.” As of now I own a badass windbreaker. As light Jazz plays in the background while the stage is being set, the stair step-like space fills with all the unique people dressed and painted as goblins.

The lights darken and the bubbly pink girly pop metal group Brat comes out. With all of their crossovers of classic “girl coded” songs mixed with heavy metal, such an odd combo that works so well. With Liz Selfish’s cheerleader- like choreography, and over exaggerated expressions makes you wanna bounce along with her. Brat’s version of “Barracuda” was amazing with the wild and chaotic energy coming from drummer Dustin Eagan, and the sound of guitarist Brenner Moate brings the band together with his punchy and melodic guitar playing.

Seeing Ov Sulfur is always a great time, with the thick graveling vocals from Ricky Hoover, impeccable guitar riffs from Chase Wilson with the perfect harmony coming from bass playing by Josh Bearden, and the centerpiece playing drums Leviathvn Xul. At the end of their set they surprise the crowd by announcing they are going to play a preview of their newest upcoming single, so keep your eyes peeled for a badass new banger from these guys.

With Revocation coming out and setting their own stage, they jump right into action with the lights going off. With the lead David Davidson’s thrashing riffs and sick solos on his Ferrari yellow Guitar with the wit and humor between him and Anthony Buda Bassist onstage talking about “AI Marge Simpson tentacle porn”. Revocation hyped the crowd into a wall to wall mosh pit in the middle and chaos. The floating of bodies above your head, the plastic cups thrown, beer everywhere. Hell yeah.

Oh my. Nekrogoblikon. Just to start off, there’s a giant blow up goblin head onstage. The crowd filled with laughter and green goblin ear beanies. The band emerged and took place, then gave attention to the goblin himself, John Goblikon. SCREAMS. Starting the show with Darkness was the right choice, with John just showing off his sick dance moves and his clean vocals in between the vocal attacks of Dickie Allen. We got to know the giant goblin head has a teeny tiny body underneath and he is the love child of said John and Dickie, sorry guys, yes I think he’s a little fk’d up. And why won’t Chilis finally sponsor the band? Maybe Taco Bell will take up the offer?
Overall this night was badass. The mix of the bands just makes sense honestly, this lineup is such a good fit together. I still can’t stop thinking about parts of the show and laughing to myself. If you are like me and want to see the craziest lineup, grab yourself a ticket to the SHOW ME YOUR GOBLIN tour.
